Winter has shut down shooting and writing about my usual subjects. It has been cold here in central New Jersey of late, but thus far, we have had only two winter snows. There hasn’t been a massive dump yet, but I’m sure one is coming. After all, it is only early February. If you are in a similar seasonal situation, I hope this post will add some colorful warmth to brighten your day.

February means it’s time for the annual flower & garden show, something to get me back into a shooting mode.

I was reorganizing my catalog from previous years and thought I would offer up some selected images to break up the winter doldrums in anticipation of spring.

Some of the following images were from competition arrangements. Those that appear darker were captured from large, constructed landscaper displays, usually dimly lit to create separation from others nearby and to create a certain ambiance in the massive hall. Flowers are often not identified. If you can ID, I will edit accordingly.

Presented in no particular order.

Orchids
Spider Mum
This was sticking up like a little pipe in the middle of this arrangement. The tiny details at the opening caught my eye. I have no clue what this is.
Which reminds me: It’s about time to start looking for the first emergent signs of the earliest spring flowers.

If you would like more, I have lots more to show.
