Unfortunately, after some time spent with the camera I have decided to return it. There is a lot to like, especially the points you mentioned, but it is not suitable for my primary type of shooting which is closeup insects and other critters in motion. The electronic viewfinder refresh rate is nowhere near fast enough to give me a clear view of my subjects in flight. The jittery imagining in the viewfinder when trying to focus on them is unacceptable for tracking small fast moving subjects. I also don’t like the focus squares and zones. They are difficult to see in bright light situations, are not precise enough, and do not track and lock well enough to be useful to me.

I am returning it to trade for a D500 DSLR…once they are back in stock. Sigh.. Until then, I will continue with my tried-and-true 12 year-old D90 with its pros and cons which I discussed in one of my longer pieces and why I decided it was time to replace it.

The theft of my images to "train" AI, and the misrepresentation of AI "art" as "photography" has angered me. I intend to fight back. Join me at AIgitated.com
