Since the introduction of AI-generative tools to the general public, c. November 2022, the misuse of the word 'photography' in association with AI-generative imagery, ignorantly or intentionally, has been a constant source of aggravation. This platform is ground zero for this kind of abuse. I have been combating this by posting comments (and urging others to do the same), stating that AI-generated images are not the product of a photographic process; they are not photography.

Some have mended their ways. Others don't want to be bothered with such distinctions and instantly block me (or so they think. Idiots). There are some photographers here who know better and who outright call their strictly prompt-based imagery "photography/photographs." This is fraudulent, and I have said so.

Using terms such as "authentic photographs," "real photographs," "genuine photographs," and similar add to the problem. There are no such things. An image is a photograph, or it isn't. Period. Those that aren't should be called and labeled generative imagery. Using these word pairings gives credence to an unwarranted association with photography.
